Simple Wedding Cakes

In these days of excess, sometimes simple is better. Simple wedding cakes can be more elegant and make a better statement than all of the super expensive gold dusted wedding cakes in the world. Simple wedding cakes show that the reception, while important, is not the focus of the day and that the couple is not trying to out do every other wedding they have ever attended. The focus of their wedding is the joining of two people in marriage. Delicious simple wedding cakes are certainly becoming more and more popular as couples are becoming tired of too much glitz.

An all white wedding cake is one of the most beautiful wedding cakes imaginable. The lovely white icing decorated with white flowers, white rosettes, and topped with a bride and groom both dressed in white is such an elegant statement. Sometimes a wedding cake can be as colorful as a children’s birthday cake. An elegant white cake can be made even more beautiful with some white sugar sprinkled over the cake to make it sparkle.

Many brides who expect a huge guest list for the reception might use simple wedding cakes to serve to the guest and have a smaller more elegant cake for the reception centerpiece. When a professional cake baker makes a wedding cake, the price, of course, rises with the number of people the cake has to feed. The price also goes up with the kinds of decorations used for the cake. If the bride has her heart set on a very elaborate cake can save money this way. She can show off her stunning wedding cake while at the same time save money by serving the tasty but not decorated simple wedding cakes.

Another idea that many brides use is to have simple wedding cakes for each person invited to the reception. Instead of having one huge cake, the bride and groom have a small cake to cut and many simple wedding cakes to serve. What could be more fun than having each guest have his own little wedding cake decorated and perfect? Many times wedding guests have eaten so much food before the cake is served that they have no room for cake. They end up leaving most of their expensive and delicious cake on the plate. With the simple wedding cakes, they can take their cakes home in a simple white box provided by the server. The couple might even want to have their initials on the box for a very personal touch.

Simple wedding cakes have many uses. They can provide much needed elegance, save money, or become special favors. Whatever the reason, simple wedding cakes are here to stay as a reception staple.
