Krispy Kreme Wedding Cake

One person's trash is another's person's treasure. This trite cliché has never been truer than when applied to the Krispy Kreme wedding cake. Calm down Martha Stewart. Your title of cake diva isn't in jeopardy. Although the Krispy Kreme wedding cake is the newest idea on the wedding cake scene, it will never replace the traditional ultra expensive wedding cake.

If a wedding is simply a time to party and have fun, maybe the Krispy Kreme wedding cake is perfect for your wedding reception. If your friends are also fun loving, they will think your cake is perfect and, of course, tasty. Who doesn't love delicious Krispy Kreme doughnuts?

Obviously, this is not the kind of wedding cake you would want to serve at an elegant wedding or a wedding that is traditional in every way except for the cake. The Krispy Kreme cake would simply be out of place like a sore thumb. People will simply not understand the choice even if they do like the taste.

If the wedding is casual, the Krispy Kreme wedding cake fits in perfectly. Particularly, if the reception is held at a home, this type of cake says fun and quirky. For once you won't have to worry about having left over doughnuts because no one can eat just one Krispy Kreme. If you do have leftovers, have some cute little decorated boxes for guests to take home the leftovers.

If you decide on a Krispy Kreme wedding cake, you have to some planning ahead of time. Plan for at least three doughnuts per guest. If your friends are big eaters, add a few more just to be safe. The easiest doughnuts to use are the simple glazed. You cannot use hot doughnuts because the weight will make the lower ones crush. Making the Krispy Kreme wedding cake is easier if you use cold doughnuts. By the time the reception starts, the tasty treats will no longer be cold. They will be perfect.

There are several ways to assemble this fabulous cake. Some brides buy a tiered wedding cake platter. The bottom plate is the largest and the top plate is the smallest. This provides a pyramid effect. If you decide to use doughnuts with sprinkles, make sure that they match the wedding colors. You can also decorate the cake with ribbons, flowers, or even candy.

Another way to assemble the cake is to stack the doughnuts into a high pyramid. Simply stack the doughnuts until you have a pyramid that won't fall down. You may even have to make several pyramids so that you won't have to worry about tumbling Krispy Kremes. Now that would be a disaster.

When it's time to eat the Krispy Kreme cake, guests simply take a plate to the cake and help themselves. No one has to man this station because there is nothing to cut.

Obviously, the Krispy Kreme wedding cake is not for everyone, but if you like those luscious pastries, don't worry about what people say. It's your day and your choices. If people don't approve, then they haven't tried a good Krispy Kreme doughnut.
